Fashion discounter Takko opened a kindergarten and elementary school at its production location in Tirupur, India on June 13, 2008. 150 children from low-income families, who could not otherwise afford to send their children to school, now benefit from free lessons and meals. This involvement demonstrates that the Company takes its social responsibility very seriously, not only in Germany but also at its production locations.
"Opening this school is a matter that is very close to our hearts," said Alexander Mattschull, Managing Director of Takko Holding GmbH. "Education is the key element in ensuring these children's future." The "Takko Education Trust" was set up to finance this school project for the long term.
