Ecologically sustainable activity

We are convinced that ecologically sustainable activity is also commercially successful activity. This is why we strive to be economical with our use of resources. By using new technologies effectively we continually try to optimise processes in order to reduce the impact on the environment.
This can be seen in a number of areas. Numerous lorries are on the road across Europe to ensure that goods are waiting for you on the shelves in our stores. We therefore meet the challenge of satisfying our transport requirements with the lowest possible use of resources and with the lowest possible emissions. We achieve this by continually improving our routes in order to avoid any unnecessary journeys. Wherever possible, we strive to transfer our transport from road to rail to reduce fuel consumption and therefore greater carbon monoxide pollution. In this respect we are increasingly working to reduce packaging and consumables etc.
We make every effort to reduce energy consumption in the store in terms of lighting, heating and cooling. Takko Fashion is the first retailer worldwide to rely on a standardised heat pump system. With a heat pump that heats and cools, a ventilation system that recycles heat and a warm air curtain that has been developed especially for the heat pump system, we consistently focus on energy efficiency and profitability. This system solution for heating, cooling and ventilation has been in place as standard equipment in practically every Takko Fashion store since 2006. You can see the results of this successful project with over six tons less in CO2 emissions per store.
And we are continuing with this philosophy: particular attention was paid to ecology, energy efficiency and sustainability when building our new central warehouse in Winsen. We are therefore proud that the German Sustainable Building Council certified this building as a green building by awarding it a gold quality mark.
