The code of conduct for producers

At Takko Fashion, we are committed to:

• An excellent standard of quality in every aspect of our business and  in every part of the world
• Ethical and responsible management in all our operations
• Respect for the rights of the individual
• Respect for the environment

Consistent with the values of our brand, we expect that all our producers share our obligations in their conduct in terms of utmost fairness, honesty and responsibility in every aspect of their business activity. We expect the same behaviour from all producers of Takko Fashion products. The following minimum standards must be maintained.

Child labour
The producer does not employ any children in the preparation or manufacture of Takko Fashion products. The designation 'child' refers to any person below the age of 15 or older, where the local permitted minimum age for accepting paid employment or the age for compulsory schooling is higher. Producers who employ young people who do not fall into the category of 'child' also comply with all laws and regulations applicable to such persons.

Forced labour
Producers do not use any forced or involuntary labour (e.g. work by prisoners or others).

Punishment and intimidation
Producers treat every employee with dignity and respect. They do not use any corporal punishment, threat of violence or other forms of physical, sexual, psychological or verbal intimidation or abuse.

Non discrimination
The recruitment and employment practices of producers, including remuneration, benefits, promotion, discipline, dismissal or retirement, do not discriminate on the grounds of race, region, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, sex, political affiliation or disability.

Freedom of association
Producers respect the rights of employees to meet, organise and negotiate collectively in a legally peaceful way without penalty or interference.

Health and safety
We expect producers to recognise that wages are a basic necessity to meet the basic needs of employees. Remuneration must meet the commonly acceptable standards, which are comparable with those the unions have negotiated with other producers, or correspond to minimum legal wage agreements. At the very least, producers satisfy all conditions of all applicable wage and salary regulations, including those that relate to a minimum wage, overtime, maximum working week, piece work and other compensation elements and provide the legally set benefits. With the exception of extraordinary business circumstances, producers do not demand from their employees that they work more than (a) 48 hours and 12 overtime hours a week, or (b) do follow the limits of regulated working hours and overtime permitted by local legislation. Where local legislation does not restrict the working week, a regulated working week plus 12 overtime hours applies. In addition, with the exception of extraordinary business circumstances, employees have the right to one day off in every 7-day period. Producers pay their employees for overtime work at the premium rates that are prescribed by law. If the law does not stipulate any premium rate, employees receive a rate that is as at least as high as the regular hourly rate. Where industry standards are above the legally applicable conditions, we expect producers to meet the higher standards.

Publication
Producers take appropriate steps to ensure that the conditions of this code of conduct is communicated to employees, including displaying a copy of this code of conduct in the local language and in a place that the employee can access and read at any time.

Protection of the environment
Producers satisfy all applicable environmental laws and regulations.

Other laws
Producers meet all applicable laws and regulations, including those which concern the production, pricing and sale and supply of products. All references to 'applicable legislation and regulation' in this code of conduct include local and national code, rules and directives as well as applicable contracts and voluntary industrial standards.

Subcontract
Producers do not use any subcontractors to manufacture Takko products or parts thereof, who have not signed this code of conduct or act in accordance with it.

Monitoring and consent
Producers authorise Takko and its designated representatives (including third parties) to be involved in monitoring activities to guarantee adherence to this code of conduct, including independent inspections of production conditions and employee accommodation, sight of books and records that concern employment as well as private employee surveys. Producers maintain on site all documents that might be required to prove compliance with this code of conduct.
